Tangram Pro 2.4.0 - now with Advanced Collaborative Design Capability

Written by Matt Zolman | Sep 12, 2024

With the release of Tangram Pro 2.4.0 comes the ability to collaboratively edit Software Integration Models. Collaborative editing within Designer gives System Engineering and Software Development stakeholders the power to simultaneously work together on system designs in real-time, bringing immediate feedback and adjustments. This is particularly useful when working on complex systems where different subsystems need to be integrated seamlessly.

By bringing together diverse perspectives, collaborative editing fosters innovation. Engineers can brainstorm and refine ideas in a shared environment, leading to more creative and effective design solutions. Collaborative tools enable quick iterations on designs, allowing teams to prototype and test ideas more rapidly, which accelerates the innovation cycle.

Tangram Pro provides a centralized platform where all software elements are integrated. This ensures that all components of the system are aligned with the overall design goals and standards. This also reduces the likelihood of errors as changes made by one team member are immediately visible to others and can quickly be un-done, ensuring that everyone is working with the latest design version and reducing the risk of miscommunication or conflicting changes.

Enhanced Design Innovation

Tangram Pro Designer provides System Engineers and Software Developers powerful MBSE tools to plan, design, and implement their software integration, whether it's a single system or a systems-of-systems. Stakeholders can use the Designer workspace to componentize  software applications and define DoD Open Messages Standards or OpenAPI interfaces, transports, and serialization requirements throughout your system.

Designer already has users coordinating a diverse set of design activities, ranging from collaboratively designing Open Mission Systems (OMS) services to describing enterprise app/database data flow sequences. With the addition of the new real-time collaborative features in this release, these teams can immediately take advantage of presence indicators and real-time updates from their team members, regardless of where they are located.

Additionally, users today are seamlessly integrating Designer into their engineering processes with our Cameo synchronization connector, allowing them to synchronize Cameo MBSE models with the Tangram Pro workspace to define the implementation at a deeper, more defined level, and maintain their MBSE models as the single source-of-truth. The addition of real-time updates for Designer serve to accelerate the collaboration between software and systems engineering stakeholders working in both tools.

Managing the Complexity of Software Integration

Non-engineering stakeholders, such as project managers or customers, can be involved in the review process, providing feedback and approvals without needing to understand complex engineering tools.

For large-scale engineering projects, Tangram Pro’s collaborative features help manage the complexity by organizing and integrating various components into a coherent whole.

Using Tangram Pro for collaborative editing in software integration designs enhances the accuracy, efficiency, and innovation of the design process while supporting effective communication and maintaining high security and compliance standards.

Capture project snapshots for peer review then release them for future communication.
